BRITE THEATER

Multi-award winning European theatre company

Brite Theater is an independent theatre group founded by Kolbrún Björt Sigfúsdóttir in 2006. We are especially interested in audience and site specific work, using participation, direct address, shared lighting, promenade and unconventional theatre spaces.

We currently have two young writers under commission for a public places project
WE ARE STILL HERE / WE ARE ALWAYS HERE . Our first writer, Stella Green, has responded to the theme creating (INSTRUCTIONS FOR A) GHOST DISCO, which is now live under our new section - performable anywhere until the 6th of July! Get dancing! Our second writer is Ink Asher Hemp, whose work will go live on the 8th of July.

We are also thrilled to announce that we will be back at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe as ART Award recipients with a premiere of Steve McMahon's Sandcastles running at Assembly Festival this August with support from the Carol Tambor Incentive Award and patronage from Allan Wilson. More on that below.

We are usually touring our multi-award winning productions of audience interactive Shakespeare productions Richard III (a one-person show) and Hamlet (an experience) , global pandemics allowing. A brand new covid safe version of Richard III is now available for booking. The third part of our Coward Conscience trilogy, starring Emily Carding, is in development.

We recently made Deliverance, a piece of performance the audience undertake in their own homes after a delivery of instructions, with the help of Vanishing Point who produced the show in November '20. Having received Creative Scotland funding we went on to tour Scotland in spring/summer/autumn '21 . The show was performed in Busan, South Korea in partnership with the Busan Cultural Foundation in December '21. International bookings being taken now.
